Aryai fell in love with depictions of women in the magazines smuggled into his home town, Tehran, Iran. He secretly sketched figures from these forbidden fruits. This was the beginning of his life in art. With great good luck, he was able to emigrate to England, and his formal art education began. Released from an oppressive culture, his passion and ambition exploded. When he moved to the United States, he fell in love again, this time with photography. “Sia Aryai’s artwork captures the sensual delicacy of the feminine mystique combined with a rough, coarse embellishment suggestive of Ancient Persia and modern day women, transcending time and place, in a subconscious space that attracts and affects us all.” Aryai has done creative product design renderings for corporations such as Nike, Kraft and Adidas, and has provided images for key set decorations in major motion pictures.
